Central West

The Line Up

The opening weekend sees JK-47 bring his rapid fire rhymes to Boggabilla and iconic purveyors of pop Regurgitator will bring their back catalogue of hits including “Black Bugs” and “Polyester Girl” to Bathhurst.  Much adored Pete Murray will bring “Better Days” and more to Orange and indie rockers The Vanns are road tripping out to Wagga Wagga.

These amazing artists are best paired with some of the finest eats, drinks and places to rest, so we’ve compiled some of the best of the Central West below.

Local Eats and Treats

The Central West has quietly built a reputation for quality dining driven by cool-climate produce, strong regional pride and a willingness to do things properly. In Orange, food is inseparable from the surrounding farmland and vineyards. Lolli Redini remains a benchmark for refined regional dining, while Charred Kitchen & Bar delivers bold flavours in a relaxed, modern setting. For something more casual, The Agrestic Grocer is a local favourite for breakfast, lunch and pantry raiding, and nearby cellar doors often double as excellent lunch stops.

In Dubbo, the dining scene is unfussy but increasingly polished. Miia Mexiico offers a bright, fun atmosphere and delicious Mexican food, while Press Café remains a dependable go-to for daytime dining. Classic pubs and bistros throughout town round things out with generous portions and country hospitality.

Over in Tamworth, food and music culture intersect in welcoming, easy-going venues. DECO Wine Bar & Restaurant is a highlight, pairing seasonal menus with one of the town’s strongest wine lists, while Workshop Kitchen offers relaxed dining built around regional ingredients. Bakeries and cafés across town provide plenty of casual options between shows or events.

Where to Grab a Drink

Drinking in the Central West is centred around wine, craft beer and classic pubs done well. Orange’s cool-climate reputation shines at cellar doors just outside town, while venues like Ferment – The Orange Wine Centre bring the region’s best drops together under one roof. Local pubs and small bars make evenings easy without feeling over-programmed.

In Dubbo, Devil’s Hollow Brewery has become a popular stop for craft beer and casual nights out, while heritage pubs throughout the CBD offer live music and a strong sense of place. Tamworth leans naturally into pub culture, with long-standing venues and hotel bars providing reliable pre- and post-show options, particularly during the town’s busy festival periods.

Where to Spend the Night

Accommodation across the Central West blends comfort with character. In Orange, Basalt Luxury Studios offer sleek, design-led accommodation close to the CBD, while vineyard stays around Nashdale provide a quieter, countryside alternative.

Dubbo offers a range of well-located stays, with Quest Dubbo and boutique motels close to town making it easy to explore on foot. In Tamworth, Powerhouse Hotel Tamworth stands out for its modern rooms and onsite dining, while CH Boutique Hotel provides a comfortable, central base close to venues and nightlife.
