Maddy Jane is an independent singer-songwriter from an island, off an island - Bruny Island, in Tasmania. Maddy’s debut full-length album, Not All Bad Or Good (2020) scored triple j’s feature album and saw Maddy perform singles “Perfection’s a Thing and You’re It” and “Unwritten” for triple j’s Like A Version.
Maddy's follow up 2022 EP Island Time offered a raw and poetic collection of songs sharing her return to her hometown of Bruny Island during the world shutdown high lighting the irony, dark humour and the slight sense of fear that comes with ending up exactly where you started. Her latest release Clear As Mud Pt. 1 is a project that reclaims identity, place and power with searing honesty and uniquely Tasmanian storytelling. Exploring the complexities of queerness and rural womanhood, it’s a new chapter from an artist who continues to evolve with heart, bite and zero pretence.
With almost ten million streams to her name, Maddy has steadily carved out a space in the Australian music landscape that’s entirely her own—raw, rugged, grounded, and deeply resonant. Her honest lyrics and captivating songwriting have earned her a place on huge arena tours supporting the likes of Harry Styles and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, festival appearances at Falls, Party in the Paddock and Yours and Owls, and multiple sold out headline tours across Australia.
