PIRRA are an indie-pop/dance outfit hailing from Wollongong, NSW. Their flavour of danceable indie-pop mixes live instrumentation with washes of synth and programmed sounds to support the silken melodies of frontwoman Jess Beck.
Jess Beck, a proud Luritja woman (Central Desert NT), who was born and raised on Boandik land (near Mount Gambier SA), fronts the four-piece comprising of James McKendry (guitar, synth), and twins Curtis Argent (bass, synth) and Jeffrey Argent (drums).
PIRRA’s live show has evolved into a seductive blend of infectious modern pop which will bring you to the dancefloor for an immersive experience. Since signing with UK label Cr2 Records alternative label imprint BLK&WHT RCRDS they have teamed up with leading producers such as Konstantin Kersting (Tones & I), Roy Kerr (London Grammar), and most recently Sam Littlemore (PNAU) who produced the highly acclaimed 2021 release ‘Never Apart’. Pedestrian TV filmed their collaboration in a 3-part miniseries documenting the creation of ‘Never Apart.'
In the wake of releasing ‘Never Apart’, PIRRA secured the triple j unearthed feature artist throughout NAIDOC week and the track went on to secure the group their first #1 on the AMRAP charts. With a plethora of new music ready for release and extensive touring plans slated for 2022, next year is poised to be PIRRA’s biggest year to date.
