The Line Up
The opening weekend will see singer-songwriter-storyteller Maddy Jane bring her honest, resonant music to La La La’s. The following weekend, much revered indie band Cloud Control will play their back catalogue of hits like “Gold Canary” and ”There’s Nothing In The Water We Can’t Fight” at Anita’s Theatre. La La La’s will also play host to singer-songwriter MAY-A, as well as the powerful and compelling craft from Indigenous supergroup 3%, with tracks like "Won’t Stop” and “Our People”.
In between gigs, here are some tips for places to rest, refresh and replenish!
Local Eats and Treats
Wollongong’s dining scene has grown into something quietly impressive, pairing beachside ease with thoughtful, produce-driven cooking. In the CBD, His Boy Elroy remains a standout, serving inventive modern Australian plates that feel equally suited to a long lunch or a celebratory dinner. Just around the corner, Kneading Ruby is a local favourite for handmade pasta, warm service and unfussy Italian comfort food.
For daytime dining, it’s hard to beat Diggies Café, sitting right on North Beach and ideal for breakfast or a casual post-swim meal. A little north or south of town, suburbs like Thirroul and Austinmer reward those willing to explore with village-style cafés and relaxed coastal dining.
Where to Grab a Drink
Wollongong’s drinking spots are relaxed but reliable. The Howlin’ Wolf Whisky Bar is a long-standing favourite for cocktails, live blues and late nights, while Seeker Brewing delivers small-batch beers in a laid-back taproom setting. For something more classic, North Gong Hotel offers a polished pub experience with ocean views, and The Prince Hotel remains a dependable stop for a casual drink close to the action.
Where to Spend the Night
If you want to stay close to the beach and the city centre, Novotel Wollongong Northbeach remains the city’s most iconic stay, with uninterrupted ocean views and easy access to coastal walks. Sage Hotel Wollongong is a strong central option, offering modern rooms within walking distance of restaurants, bars and venues. For a quieter coastal feel, nearby Austinmer and Thirroul offer boutique stays just a short drive from town.
